ISO Survey 2025: new management system certification data released

The ISO Survey 2025 results are now available, providing an annual snapshot of management system certification worldwide. The survey records valid accredited certificates and associated sites as of 31 December 2025, offering insight into the use of standards across countries and industries.
ISO 9001 remains the most widely certified standard covered by the survey, with 1,611,729 certificates. It is followed by ISO 14001 with 739,390 and ISO 45001 with 599,532. Quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems therefore represent the largest certification categories in the report.
This edition adds two standards: ISO/IEC 42001 for artificial intelligence management systems and ISO 37301 for compliance management systems. The survey records 271 and 1,018 certificates respectively. Their inclusion provides a broader basis for monitoring these fields, although it does not by itself establish annual growth rates.
The survey draws primarily on anonymised, aggregated data from IAF CertSearch. For the 2025 edition, this was supplemented with UKAS CertCheck statistics, improving coverage particularly in the United Kingdom. However, coverage of certification bodies accredited by Germany’s DAkkS remains incomplete. For several standards, the Chinese statistics include estimated site counts.
These differences matter when comparing countries or successive survey editions. An increase in recorded certificates may reflect both changes in certification activity and more comprehensive data reporting. Certificate totals also do not represent a count of unique organizations: an organization may hold several certificates, while a single certificate may cover multiple sites.
For organizations, auditors and certification bodies, the ISO Survey remains a useful reference for understanding the structure of the certification market. Assessments of demand and changes in the popularity of standards should take account of data comparability and the limitations set out in the ISO/CASCO explanatory note.
